Portrait of Florian Boeck

About

Cloud enthusiast, funtrepreneuer (entrepreneur for fun) and Technical Account Manager at AWS. Always trying to learn something new about computer science and the cloud — one post at a time.

I'm Florian Boeck, a Technical Account Manager at Amazon Web Services in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main area. I work with enterprise customers on their strategic goals and technical challenges and in my free time try out lots of new AWS stuff or work on my side projects. This blog is where I keep the things I would otherwise lose: the snippet that finally made an IAM policy behave, the configuration change that contradicted what I expected, the architecture I delivered or that didn't make it to production or just tracking progress of said side projects.

Before joining AWS I was a Cloud Consultant at tecRacer, designing landing zones, microservices, serverless applications, and Terraform-based DevOps setups, while also teaching as an AWS Authorized Instructor. Before that I built B2C platforms as a software engineer and architect at Twinner, GFT Technologies, and Yatta Solutions — mostly TypeScript, React, and of course, AWS.

I hold several AWS certifications, for example the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional and AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional. I studied Computer Science at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and finished my Masters with grade 1.0 (with distinction).

What gets published here

Short posts, usually one idea each, in three rough categories:

  • Experiments. A question, the setup used to answer it, the numbers, and what I concluded. Serverless latency, Bedrock behaviour, event routing, storage costs.
  • Snippets. Working code with enough context to adapt it. Everything is copy-pasteable, and every code block on this site has a copy button for exactly that reason.
  • Corrections. When a measurement here turns out to be wrong, I say so in the post rather than quietly editing it. Posts that have changed materially carry an updated date.

Anything still half-formed lives in a separate part of the repository and is never published, which is why the archive stays smaller than my notes folder.

How it's built

This site is a static Astro build: content is Markdown and MDX in a Git repository, syntax highlighting happens at build time, and the deployed output is nothing but files in S3 behind CloudFront. Page views are counted with a cookie-free edge beacon, so there is no tracking script and nothing stored in your browser beyond your theme preference.
